The mission statement of the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians Health Department is to improve all aspects of the physical, mental and emotional well being of all members of the tribe. We continually strive to accomplish this by promoting wellness through intervention, prevention, education and encouragement. By utilizing these health practices tribal families can integrate these practices into their families and promote a healthier life style and way of life for our tribal members.

Professional services provided by the health department include physicians, dentist and optometrist/ophthalmologists visits along with pharmaceutical needs which are provided by the Indian Health Service. The health department also provides transportation for our elderly tribal members upon request.
The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians Social Services Department provides the highest quality of services to its tribal members to enhance their well being, economic and social stability. The social services department provides members and other eligible persons with services such as: domestic violence, child abuse prevention, access to substance abuse rehabilitation, counseling, delinquency and many other social problems.
The social services department offers many types of assistance such as individual and family counseling and intervention with the ASEP (After School Educational Program). They also work in conjunction with OCS (Office of Community Services), foster children, private adoptions, schools, FINS (Families in Need of Services), drug and alcohol rehabilitation and an advocate with the court system. The tribe also offers its members referrals from organizations within the community such as VOA (Volunteers of America) and drug rehabilitation facilities.
