The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, a sovereign nation of Native Americans, envisions the ideal future of The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians as being one in which all Tribal members are both prosperous and contented in all aspects of their physical, emotional, economical, and spiritual well-being.

TRIBAL COUNCIL MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians is to incorporate efforts that are intended to move The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians towards reaching the stated Tribal Council Vision and include the following:
  • To promote business, financial, and organizational development, provide programmatic services and assist in cultural heritage preservation and enrichment efforts at the tribal and individual tribal member level.

  • To develop a strong sense of tribal unity, camaraderie, and a common shared vision/dream of working together for the betterment of all, within our sovereign nation of The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians.

  • To advocate and assist in educational, career pursuits, and goals of all tribal members that will increase overall value to be shared with other members of the tribal organization as well.

  • To serve as a resource of guidance and encouragement to tribal members in their individual progress and to those who assist in the tribe's progression.

  • To be aware of individual and family needs, to keep tribal members informed, aware of, and exposed to pertinent issues having impact on their status as Native Americans.

  • To encourage increased involvement, participation, and teamwork by tribal members in tribal affairs.

  • To foster individual, family, and tribal self-sufficiency, and economic Independence.

  • To instill a deep sense of pride and self-worth, including efforts of promoting and rewarding excellence.

  • To develop strong, effective leadership qualities in leaders thereby creating increased tribal allegiance.

  • To organize adequate and appropriate systems of communication within government and in the community such that all tribal members are, and feel that they are informed.

  • To establish respect among tribal members, their leaders, and tribal elders.

  • To provide support to tribal members according to their individual needs and circumstances.
