POSITION SUMMARY

The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians is seeking to hire a full time Purchasing Director.  The Purchasing Director accomplishes the strategic objectives of the tribe by planning and organizing in an effective and efficient manner in alignment with the JBCI constitution, Policies, and Procedures.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.  This is not a complete list of responsibilities and duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Maintain confidentiality; oversee and assist in the day to day purchasing and procurement of services, materials, and supplies; manages inventory for the administrative campus and Tribal businesses; communicates effectively with Tribal Leadership, Department Directors, and employees; assists in bid solicitation and acquisition; , inventory, and procurement policies for submission to the Tribal Chief, Council, and Administrator; directs the establishment, implementation, and communication of goals, policies, and procedures in accordance to Tribal Constitution, Policies, procedures, strategic plans, applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, resolutions, and directives with emphasis on Tribal culture.

Members of the Jena Band of Choctaw Indian Tribe shall be given absolute preference with respect to hiring, promotions, training, contracting, and separation from employment.

Activities Director

Position Available: Activities Director

Location:  Administration in Trout, LA

Reports to: Tribal Chief, Council, and 
                        Administrator

Status: Full Time  / Non Supervisory

POSITION SUMMARY

The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians is seeking to hire a full time Activities Director.  The Activities Director will plan, organize, and engage Tribal activities and events that are diverse, educational, and produce pride and knowledge of Native American History and Heritage.  The Activities Director will be expected to gauge Tribal interests, conceptualize appropriate activities and events, and ensure the availability of all necessary resources.  The Activities Director will devise activities and events that promote Native American enjoyment and tranquility.


RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Maintain confidentiality; Must be able to plan, coordinate, and organize activities and projects; Maintaining a calendar of activities and effectively communicating it to participants; Coordinating and communicating with staff members; Overseeing group activities; Posting a monthly calendar of events; Must be able to reliably commute to all JBCI work sites; Submits budgetary recommendations for equipment and supplies; Adept to working cross-culturally with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities; Cultural sensitivity and ability to work within the customs and traditions of Native American tribal members; Able to develop positive relationships with Tribal leadership, members, staff, and community partners; Ensures all activities are guided by Tribal Council and community input and are grounded in authentic Native American history, heritage, values, and standards; and Ensures timely and accurate activity information is provided to Tribal community through written communication, website, social media, phone, and other means of correspondence.

Entry Level Compliance Specialist

The Jena Band of Choctaw Gaming Commission is searching for a motivated individual to fill the

position as a compliance specialist. A compliance specialist will ensure that all relevant laws, regulations, and policies are being followed. They will work to identify and mitigate potential risks of non-compliance, and help to develop policies to ensure that the company operates in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

Compliance specialists will also conduct audits and maintain records. Overall, they aim to protect the company from legal or reputational harm while maintaining a culture of integrity and ethical behavior.  The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong investigative and communication  skills, diplomacy, and impartiality when addressing compliance issues across various gaming departments
