Position Available: Housekeeper
Location: Administrative Campus in Trout
Reports to: Tribal Chief and Administrator
Status: Full Time / Non Supervisory

Closing Date: Friday, April 26, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY
The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians is seeking to hire a full time housekeeper. The Housekeeper performs housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and tidy atmosphere, sets up for events, and performs other duties as designated at the administrative campus. The perfect candidate for this position must be highly motivated to keep a clean environment and work in an ethical manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate will have excellent housekeeping skills, good communication and the ability to follow instructions. A successful Housekeeper will have a heightened level of awareness and attention to detail. This skill is important so they can clean hidden places that hold dust and dirt. The job also requires a certain level of physical strength, so the ideal candidate will be fit enough to walk and bend for extended periods. They may also have to lift heavy items and use the staircase multiple times during shifts. An experienced Housekeeper is adept at time management.
DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Keeping facilities and common areas clean and maintained.
Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
Provide housekeeping duties including, vacuuming, dusting.
Handle basic maintenance and cleaning.
Cleaning and stocking restrooms.
Collecting and disposing of trash and debris.
Properly cleaning upholstered furniture.
Cleaning up spills with appropriate equipment.
Clean, disinfect and store all equipment as needed or directed.
Understand the company's policy and recommendations for cleaning
Perform detailed deep cleans when required
Notifying administration and/or maintenance of necessary repairs.
Report cases of property damage in commercial spaces to supervisor
Work well unsupervised.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with Tribal members and visitors
Undergo training and professional development.
Ensures that all office work areas of the Tribal Office are secured at the end of operational hours
Work with all directors and employees.
Maintain a positive relationship with directors, employees, and guests.
Monitor and report on the inventory of cleaning supplies
Must be able to work independently.
Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to occasionally travel to other tribal businesses and work irregular hours.
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work within the customs and traditions of native American tribal members.
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Valid driver's license. (Required)
No felony, theft, stealing, or drug convictions.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and HiSET Equivalency.
Experience with housekeeping tasks and protocols.
Excellent working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations and proper use of cleaning agents
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to be proficient or able to learn and use the latest version of Microsoft Office software, work within Google Workspace, and other software programs as needed.

JOB LOCATION
This position shall be located at the administration complex in Trout, Louisiana. This position requires reasonable travel for training and to other Tribal businesses, and to provide services for tribal members.

Enrolled members of the Jena Band of Choctaw tribe who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
Spouses of enrolled members of the Jena Band of Choctaw tribe who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
Enrolled members of other recognized tribes who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
Military Veterans.
All others satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
