We're excited to invite you to the 15th Annual Powwow in the Pines, a celebration of Native American culture, traditional foods, arts, and crafts! This two-day event, held on October 10th and 11th, 2025, will feature competitive singing and dancing with over $60,000 in prizes! The powwow is open to the public and will take place at the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians Powwow Grounds in Trout, LA.
The event is open to the public and celebrates Native American culture.
Activities include traditional foods, arts and crafts, and competitive singing and dancing.
Gates open on Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday at 10:00 AM.
The Grand Entry is at 7:00 PM on Friday and 1:00 PM on Saturday.
Over $60,000 in prizes will be awarded.
Contest points will begin on Friday.
All drums and dancers of all ages are welcome.
There will be raffles and giveaways.
No alcohol, drugs, or firearms are permitted.
Drum Competition (Minimum 7 singers):
1st place: $5,000
2nd place: $3,000
3rd place: $2,000
Consolation Drum Split: $1,000
Specials:
Men's/Women's combined Cowboy: 1st place $1,000, 2nd place $500.
Hand drum: 1st place $700, 2nd place $500, 3rd place $300.
Choctaw War Dance (sponsored by the JBCI Powwow Committee): 1st place $1,000.
Teen Girl Fancy Special (sponsored by Head Girl): Prizes to be announced.
Consolation prizes will also be awarded.
